The following pic is a screenshot of a customer that called into our helpdesk and asked the question " Why is my computer so slow?"
Notice the running apps in the systray and toolbars in the browser. Smiley

he-he... my browser has a lot of toolbars too and I always was wondering why my computer is so slow Grin

Easy way to get rid of them is to open IE and hit tools\internet options
Hit the advanced tab. One of the options in the list is "enable third party browser extensions". Uncheck this option and restart IE. Now all those trouble some toolbars should be gone.
